we got a puppy from a breeder here that said it was a miniature pinscher but the local vet it was part Dachshund and part jack Russell terrier.
Anybody agree or disagree with the vet?
Another older post I have stumbled across but I would like to comment all the same. I think the vet needs to learn more about breeds and crossbreeds. That puppy looks very similar to mine when she was about three-months-old, who has a Dachshund dam and Minpin sire. I cannot see any JRT in him/her whatsoever and the puppy is definitely not a Minpin but a cross.
However, it is a very sweet puppy and it would be nice to see what he/she looks like now. Hopefully a bit slimmer. Incidentally, I do not like tail docking but this is not the place to discuss it.
@Doxie lady - I would not rely on any DNA tests - when someone had her pure bred Pug [five generations of traceable pedigree] checked by three different "specialist" DNA testing firm just to see what they had to say [this was for a dog magazine article] she was told things ranging from a cross between a Labrador and Beagle and probably something else, to a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Chihuahua. Also with probably something else. Not one mentioned Pug.
