Question Advice needed

New Member
I have a dapple smooth girl and have found a stud for her ( black and tan ). However the owner just told me that her dogs grandfather is a silver dapple. I know not to breed two dapples. But is there a safe “generational distance” between grandad and stud here or not? Is there even a safe “generational distance”?
Her dog has not been DNA tested.
I need an answer/advice fast please, as we were to breed tomorrow.

thanks in advance

The dapple pattern is dominate. It is only present if you can see dapples. If grandfather was dapple and son is not, then no worries. This simply means the son did not inherit the dapple pattern gene from his dad. I would go ahead with the breeding with confidence.
