I just heard through the grapevine that a mini smooth b/t piebald male won Best in Show at a dachshund specialty. In Canada.
Way to go!! Thank you so much to the judge who judged conformation at a conformation judging, and not color.
In Canada, there are 6 groups of dachshund. The minis: smooth, long and wire, and the standards: smooth, long and wire. When there's a specialty show, you can be sure the breeders bring out all their 'big guns', their seasoned champions, to compete. Winning a Best in Show at a specialty is a really really big deal. A piebald winning? I bet there was fainting.
If you wish to see photos of this boy, let me know and I'll pass you the link.
It's a very good day for piebalds.
