Hi Everyone,
I'm over the moon I've found this Forum, I'm just embarking on my dachshund journey and feel great reassurance from looking at the knowledge and friendliness of the members here.
I've been researching miniature dachshunds for the last year, having grown up with a chocolate lab and a houseful of cats, but always yearning for a sausage dog of my own one day!
I've got a burmese cat and she's been the main reason I've been putting off getting a sausage dog but my love for little sausages has overpowered me. After visiting as many dog shows and specialised miniature dachshund shows in the UK as possible & talking to numerous breeders I've been reassured I could make the cat and dog get on (in time). So in 6 weeks, all being well, I collect my little short haired miniature Black and Tan boy dachshund. He is currently 3 weeks old.
I'm now striving to get all the essentials he may need and want to make his life with me as happy, safe, playful, secure and walk filled as possible!
I've read so many books, spoken to breeders and am now in the exciting few weeks of getting my house, garden, cat and life ready for him.
I'll be reading this forum with great interest and can't wait to interact with some of you to get your knowledge and insight.
I'd love to tell you the name I have chosen, but I have 2 I can't choose between, and need to spend a little more time with him to ensure the name fits his personality.
Thank you for taking the time to read my excited writing.
