Dachshund with pressure sore on his hock.

My 9 1/2 year old dachshund's (Puppet) rear quarters were paralyzed for a few months in 2012; he regained mobility without surgery, but he is not 100%. Recently he got a wound to his right hock which had been compromised while he was dragging. Dachshunds hocks are impossible to bandage due to the shape of their legs plus he is a very hyper dog. I took him to 3 vets before I found one who knew what was happening. It ulcerated--partly due to pressure and partly due to him licking it. With the aid of laser treatments and diligence on my part, it is almost healed. However, the left hock has some fur loss from him laying on that side so much to prevent further damage and promote healing to the right hock.
My question is this: once the pressure sore is healed, what precautions need to be taken with the area?
