Remy my 8 week old dachshund puppy questions

hi I have recently bought my second dachshund and had a few questions

when we picked out Remy he looked like a short hair but now that he's 8 weeks he has long belly hair and long hair on his legs top of ears and right before his tail do you think he could end up being a long hair or medium haired dachshund ?
the father was a red long hair and the mom a brindle short hair .. mom had long hair in her pedigree

Usually the ears start to go wavey first for a long hair puppy.
I've had 4 smooths and the textures have been different on all of them, so much so I could tell by touch who was who. Beau has a velvety coat, Engli had coarser hair, so much so that I got hair slivers in my feet from her. Some parts of a smooth can have hair that's longer, like on the belly.
