    Nose Cells may help paralysis

I sure wish this was available when Henry went down: BBC News - Nose cell transplant enables paralysed dogs to walk I wonder if the procedure will eventually be readily available. And if it will ever be affordable.

    Is He A Tweenie??

PD was supposed to be a minnie, and grew into a tweenie. Henry was supposed to be a minnie, and grew into a standard. Frank was two when we got him. He was supposed to be a minnie dachshund and has grown into a minnie mountain goat.

    Need Help with Cage Rest!!!

The first thing is for you to be calm. Like a small child, she wants what she wants, and she's letting you know. It is OK to tell her "NO" in a firm voice when she makes too much noise. If there is a problem with the girlfriend, the two of you can work on that as long as she is willing...

My puppy will be here soon!

Great suggestions above. Your puppy isn't a person, and doesn't have to be introduced to the whole house all at once. So if you want to keep him confined to one or two rooms at first, that might make the change easier on him and less overwhelming. He is a really handsome pup. Congratulations.

does my puppy have a normal spine?

PD has always had a bit of a hump in his back. Especially if he is cold, and when he is in pain. I'm pretty sure I mis-diagnosed at least one instance in his life as back pain, when he was really just fine. And most recently when he was having other problems. Is it normal? I'm not sure...

    Dachshund of the Month!?

Yes, it would be good if I could figure out how to do that. Without owning the pics, I'm not sure I can post just the pics. Maybe I (or whoever wants to take on a month) could name the number of the post in the thread.

    Dachshunds can do math?

I guess the next time I hand out kibble treats to my doxies I had better make sure I give both the same number! Genius dog in Guangdong does math - China.org.cn

    Retractable Leash?

Oh yeah, they can be dangerous to the human, if the human is wearing shorts. Kathy and I have both suffered rope burn from letting the cord zip past our legs or arms with an enthusiastic runner on the other end. And then there is the sudden stops that can be rough on the dachshund. We won't...

    Retractable Leash?

The retractible leashes can be locked to give your dog less wandering space. When walking our dogs, I'll set the leash so the dogs are close to me. If I take them to a park, and want to let them have a bit of time to roam, I'll unlock the leashes. Then, when it's time to head back to the...

    A One-person dog?

You might have to put the second dog plan on hold for a while, then. But at least you know what to do if husband ever becomes an annoyance.

    Help me with my puppy!

Sorry to disagree with Noodles mom, but ... While consistency is great, I think 13 weeks is too young to go 6 hours. I think you were able to prove that to yourself, and came to the correct conclusion. If you don't have the means to let her out every 4 hours until she's a bit older, then...
