    Fear of Loud Noises?

Sara's advice is spot on. Check out Kikopup and Tab289 on YouTube, they both have incredible videos on training and behavior. They're who I've use to teach Nola. Nola's reactive (barking like mad, lunging) to garbage trucks (no idea why) and umbrellas. What was the distraction portion of her...

    seperation anxiety

I agree with Steph. I LOVE Kikopup on YouTube, and use a lot of her training methods with Nola. This video is how I dealt with Nola's SA: How to train your dog to be left alone- clicker training - YouTube And here's her one on house training (I just read your other thread). Congrats on your...

Do you have a dachshund club?

Haha, nah. I can't imagine trying to hold her leash while she swims! I call her my otter-Dox.:D I just have her drag her leash at the beach; she's off leash 95% of the time we're there. That's another thing I tell people; that Dachshunds are 100% trainable and VERY smart! Nola knows about...

Do you have a dachshund club?

That they are not (or at least, shouldn't be) lap dogs! Nola's only 8lbs, but she hikes, swims, runs, has started agility training and is crazy active!

    Adventures in Trick Training

I'd say the secret is a clicker, treats and a hungry dog! Nola picks things up SO fast, especially since we started clicker training. Also, keep training fun! Do a few cues, throw a toy, a few more cues, a snuggle, ect.:D

    Adventures in Trick Training

I've been working hard with Nola, and I've trained her a several complex behavioral chains in addition to single cues this month. I've taught her: Up onto a stool, verbal and hand signal Up onto a stool, with me at a distance giving the cue (we've gotten to about 15ft) Off a stool, verbal and...

    Therapy Dog?

Mine isn't, but if the dog has the right temperament I think they make a good therapy dog, regardless of breed. :) I follow a blog about a Dachshund who's a therapy dog. If Nola wasn't so particular about who she likes, she'd be a great therapy dog. Alas, she's more suited to agility and rally...
