    BIG PROBLEM !!!

I am not sure that anyone here can answer your question, but first I would call your veterinarian for an exam, and second, you may wish to Join Dachshund Breeding Basics which is a private group on Facebook. Lots of helpful people belong and as soon as you are approved, you can ask your...

    People feeding scraps

I think you need to use your "outdoor voice" if they argue with you about this issue. I would explain ONCE, nicely, that dachshunds are prone to back issues, and one of the things that can create back problems is becoming overweight. I would tell them that his current weight is ideal, that he...

    Health

There are a lot of questions in this group about skin problems and itchy skin. I have answered several times, but basically you could switch to grain free, chicken free food, and bathe in Head and Shoulders Plus. After two years of misery, visits to two teaching (University) hospitals, and a...

    Real Dachshund?

I have a special fondness for black and tans because my last little girl, who passed away from a brain tumor was the one dog that I guess you could call my soul mate. I didn't want another one though because after she died, I was a total emotional mess. Every time I saw a navy fleece throw...

Incident at the ice cream store

While purchasing an orange twist ice cream cone, the top of the cone came off and fell on the floor. Even though there was still ice cream in the cone, the lady behind the counter gave us another one. Annie was so helpful and volunteered to take care of cone #1.

    Sensitive stomach

When my last little girl would break out in bumps, scratch and develop secondary yeast infections, we had to take her to two teaching universities. She lost a lot of fur on her legs, sides, and back, and most of the hair on her tail. After spending a small fortune on pills, injections, and...

    Wiener Dog Walk

They look so happy and the music is so evocative of a dachshund doodling along.

    Real Dachshund?

Is he teething? If so, a frozen wash cloth may provide some relief.

    Sensitive stomach

Maybe a grain allergy? Perhaps you could try grain free for awhile and see if his digestive system improves.....or not.

    Real Dachshund?

He is precious. Glad your trip to get him was uneventful. What did you name him?

    Real Dachshund?

Oh he is so sweet. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you have a great "Gotcha Day." Keep us current and write details about your pick up, drive home with your new baby and bonding. I always found that singing silly songs in a calm voice using their name and your name (example: Dog's Name in...

Did you get your new baby yet? What did you name him. Is he as cute as his photo?

    Real Dachshund?

I feed Annie Eukanuba small bits mostly, but switch on and off with Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream formula. Unfortunately, during this stay at home time she has put on some weight. When it is over, we can go over to the beach and she can run and dig holes in the sand. I know this is great...

    Licking habit

Did you try bitter apple? Did it stain carpet/fabric? I also found out that Tabasco Sauce will quickly reduce enthusiasm for licking. You can let your dog smell it on a piece of something to eat, or maybe some on your hand for him/her to lick. If they eat/lick it, they won't be anxious to...

    Licking habit

You could try a bitter apple spray. Not sure if it stains fabric or not, but works on wood. Apparently it tastes awful and dogs don,t want to chew or taste anything it is sprayed on.
