    Dementia

I'm in the same boat also. I have one who about 16 or 17 now (I've had him for 9 years) and is blind, mostly deaf and definitely shows signs of dementia. Otherwise he does great. Mostly sleeps. Eats like a champ and still give kisses. I keep him in the master bedroom so he doesn't get lost...

    Urinating A lot

It sounds like a UTI, but I'm sure your vet has tested for that. I had one dog who was pre-diabetic that had to pee a lot, but not that type of pattern.

    Blue eyed female

I agree with Dawn. Could be double dapple breeding which is not something I'd want. I'd definitely want the parents checked for the DD gene

    My girl Abby

Awwww, Abby is adorable! Thank you so much for posting the video. I'm sure you miss her a lot. When you are ready, please consider giving a rescue dachshund a home. There are lots of them needing the love you gave to Abby. Hugs.

    Need Help Best Harness Brand??

I've used the Hug-A-Dog Harnesses from Dachshund Delights. They're a bit pricey but last forever and distribute the pressure. https://www.dachshunddelights.com/Hug-A-Dog-Harness_c_60.html

    Question Steps & stairs

That's so true, Chariya. I've had about 15 dachshunds over the last 30+ years. I've had one that had to have back surgery and 3 that have had issues that healed with meds and crate rest. It's heartbreaking and extremely stressful. I had one friend who had her dog's back go out just squirming...

    Question Steps & stairs

I live in a 2 story house and have had a lot of dachshunds of different sizes. When they are young, most can manage the stairs, but keep in mind that like jumping, stairs are hard on their backs. And as they age, the stairs could become too much for them. I currently have 2 older 18 lb...

Need Help Four months old - suddenly very skittish about EVERYTHING

I hope it works for you. I've heard that they just get used to it after a while and ignore it. For dogs that like water or ignore it, I mix vinegar with the water. I haven't seen a dog that like vinegar on their face. Might try that.

Need Help Four months old - suddenly very skittish about EVERYTHING

That does work! I used a soft drink can and the pennies. The dogs would stop whatever they were doing immediately. I may have to get that can out again for Honey!

Need Help Four months old - suddenly very skittish about EVERYTHING

Teething could be affecting his behaviour. As far as the reflection in the frig goes, most pups go thru a streak where they suddenly discover the "other dog" in the mirror, window, on an appliance. I think it's pretty natural to bark because in their world that's a strange dog in their house...
